About Our Team
Chris and Joanne Canellos are the founders of CJ’s Pediatric Promise Fund. Joanne has dedicated six years to volunteering in hospice care with Capital Caring Health, a commitment she honors in memory of her father, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 1992. Chris and Joanne, residents of Loudoun County for the past 26 years, have raised three sons.
About Joanne
The pediatric unit of Capital Caring has experienced significant growth in recent years, prompting the establishment of a volunteer committee dedicated to its pediatric arm, Capital Caring Kids. Joanne played a pivotal role in developing and expanding this committee, eventually assuming the role of its chairperson in January 2022. Motivated by the committee’s achievements and aspiration to support more families, she created a 501(c)(3) organization. Joanne has dedicated the last 8 years to volunteering in hospice care.
Joanne’s contributions to building the Capital Caring Kids community have been recognized by several awards including thExecutive Leadership Award in 2022, the Volunteer Impact Award in 2024 and the Pediatric Champion Award in 2025. Joanne earned her Bachelor’s in Communications from George Mason University in 1993.
